I am a photographer because using a lens based media allows me to capture moments in time that have never existed before and will never exist again. I am particularly attracted to the emotions that are depicted in these moments.

In my portraits I focus on the eyes, the window to the soul and really try to let the viewer see into the subject, create a story and an emotion. One of my most rewarding experiences was taking a picture of a WW II veteran getting his purple heart several decades later and presenting that picture to his wife and watching her well up with emotion while viewing that moment I captured. That experience was priceless!

In my other work, I search possible subjects looking for something that touches me with just the right emotion to take the shot. I try to capture that feeling through my work. As such, the piece is not necessarily about the subject matter but the feeling that it generates. If my presentation can touch someone’s heart, than I have done my job. Art allows us to experience our true emotions and I cannot think of a better way to do that than through the photographic process.

Over the last 46 years, I have been fortunate enough to participate in several forms of photography including advertising, photojournalism, wedding, portraits, special events and fine art. In all these forms my mission has been the same. I attempt to draw the viewer into the subject matter so they can experience a feeling like the one that generated the image.
